National Cadet Corps

The Army wing under this company(15/5 NCC Army NSS HIndu College,Changanacherry) started in 1957and is under 15 Kerala Bn NCC Thiruvalla This company is under the command of Capt Dr.B.Udayanan , Dept. of Political Science. The total strength of the combined wing of boys and girls is 160. The Cadets of the Army wing of this are the final word inside the campus to maintain discipline and decorum. The cadets have been actively participating in almost all wide ranging activities which include tree plantation, blood donation, literacy mission programme, leadership building programme, adventures activities etc.

This company has been keen to inform the students /Cadets regarding the recruitment in the armed forces and other job opportunities as well.We do impart special training programmes and guide and motivate students/cadets to be good citizens of India.

The cadets through N.C.C quota can eye for a decent career for their better life and future. Many cadets have been inducted in the Indian Armed Forces and in other services as well since its inception. This coy is providing career guidance, classes for cadets in getting placement in Indian Armed forces and the information wing is equipped with job opportunities for students also.

Many cadets have distinguished themselves by being part of the Kerala Contingent in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. Cadets are getting lots of opportunities to attend various centrally organised camps like RD,ID and National Integration Camps. The NCC unit of our college is doing wonderfully to hold the college flag high and inspires many to be part of the fold. NCC offers many incentives through the A,B and C certificate examinations. Cadets are coming out in flying colours in the B and C certificate examinations every year.Cadets with B and C certificates of NIC,RD,ID,BLC camps are eligilble to get grace marks fro M.G.University.It enhances their chances to get inducted into the army services.

New Terrain

NCC Army Wing has been instrumental to launch a new venture Defence & Strategic Studies [DSS] an open course under Department of Political Science of our college this year.

DSS is the first course in Mahatma Gandhi University which promotes defence and is a unique area, in army of the university in Kerala.

Brg. Sandeep Kumar. VSM, By Director General of N.C.C, Kerala & Lakshadeep formally inaugurated this course in August 2011.

Cadets Outside the Campus

  • Sixty cadets participated in the Traffic Assistance programme with the Police department,Changanacherry in 2010-11.

  • Fifty cadets were part of the Kerala State Local Body Elections 2010 by assisting the police force in the smooth conduct of the elections.

  • About 15 cadets donated blood to the needy patients in 2010-11

  • Cadets actively participated in the Special parade on Aug.15th and Republic Day parade on Jan.26th 2011.The Principal addressed the Cadets and inspected the Guard of Honor.

  • Cadets of the Army Wing offered a Guard of Honor to the Hon.Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University during his visit to the college.

NAVAL UNIT Report 2013-2014

The 5(K) Naval Wing N.C.C of N.S.S. Hindu College has 50 cadets contributing to the growth of the values of N.C.C- unity, discipline and national integration. For this purpose, the activities of 5(K) Naval Wing N.C.C of our college are classified into organizational and socio-cultural programs. At the organizational level, new cadets are selected through rigorous processes of physical and mental examination and subsequently the selected cadets do receive consistent physical, psychological and academic orientation. This is substantiated by the fact that our cadets have won third place for Parade Competition held as part of Annual Training Camp (A.T.C) at Naval Base, Cochin. As well, in the field of socio-cultural activities, the cadets of 5(K) Naval Wing N.C.C of our college offer unparalleled and outstanding activities and performance. This was also demonstrated at the Annual Training Camp where our cadets secured first place for cultural competitions.

During this academic year, 23 cadets our college participated in the Annual Training Camp (A.T.C) at Naval Base, Cochin. On 24th November the NCC day was celebrated. As part of NCC Day, we have arranged two awareness lectures. The first lecture on 'Role of Police in Kerala' was delivered by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Rtd) Shri . Vijayakumar. G and the second lecture on 'Waste Management and Environmental Policy' was delivered by Shri. Jithin Sankar, Assistant Professor of History at our college. Our cadets whole-heartedly participated in Independence Day and Republic day celebrations. Our cadets participated in various GC, NIGC RDC etc. 10 cadets got C certificate and Cdt. Cdt. Abdul Manaf participated in the NSC held at Vishakhapatinam and Cdt. Nikhil Kumar attended NIC held at Alleppey.Cdt. Siddhu Sabu, Archana Radhakrishnan, Archana V.S, Mohsina, Sheril Thomas and Shanthi Jayarajan participated in the NSC-IGC held at Kollam.


NCC Army wing's activities in this academic year have commenced on August 15, 2013. Coy commander Capt. (Dr.) B. Udayanan, hoisted the National Flag and delivered the Independence Day Message. Cadets have participated in all activities of NCC under the command of 15 Kerala Bn NCC, Thiruvalla. Group Commander of the Kottayam Group NCC, visited our college and inaugurated the open course "Defence and Strategic Studies" in June. We could successfully organize the conference of all NCC officers from Kottayam, Idukki and Pathanamthitta Districts here in our seminar Hall in June 2013. Group Commander and other Commanding Officers of various Battalions participated.

We have celebrated the Republic Day Ceremonial Parade in style. Principal Dr. G. Jagadeesh Chandran hoisted the National Flag and delivered the Republic Day Message.

Majority of our cadets participated in various Centrally Organized ATC and National Integration Camps this year. We have achieved 100% in B and C Certificate Examinations of NCC this year.
